Taste of Australia in Brunei 

Taste of Australia will be held at 2-5pm on 12 May at the Radisson Hotel. The event will include:

  • Cooking demonstrations by renowned Australian chef Jake Nicolson
  • Cooking competition – open to public entries
  • Stalls showcasing premium Australian products available in Brunei

Entry is free. 

Taste of Australia Cooking Competition 

Do you fancy your skills in the kitchen? Do you consider yourself a food guru? Then you should enter the cooking competition at the Taste of Australia in Brunei.  You may just win one of the amazing prizes from our sponsors.

How to enter?

Simply prepare a delicious dish that uses at least one Australian ingredient and one Bruneian ingredient.  Then bring it along to the Radisson Hotel on 12 May.

Judges

The competition will be judged by Australian chef Jake Nicolson and local Bruneian food legend Thanis Lim.  There will also be an opportunity for the public to vote.

Food delivery

The event kicks off at 2pm but food items for the cooking competition can be delivered anytime between 11am and 2pm on the 12th.  Please bring a sign to accompany your dish which states your name, the name of the dish and the ingredients you have used.

 

Renowned Australian chef Jake Nicholson visits Brunei 

Chef Nicolson is the executive chef of the Ghanem Group featuring the award-winning Blackbird Bar and Grill.  He began his career at the Lake House in Daylesford, Australia and has worked at the famous El Bulli in Spain and The Square and The Ledbury in London. In 2008, Chef Nicolson was named Australia’s Appetite for Excellence Young Chef of the Year. During his time as head chef at Circa the Prince in Melbourne it was awarded two Chef Hats from The Age Good Food Guide 2012.  Chef Nicolson is renowned for his innovative dishes featuring hard-to-find high quality produce.  He is passionate about whole beast cookery and seasonality and sustainability in cooking. 

 

Anzac Day 2017

The Australian and New Zealand High Commissions to Brunei Darussalam would like to invite you to a commemorative service to mark ANZAC Day 2017 at 600am on Tuesday, 25 April at the Brunei-Australia Memorial, Muara Beach.

ANZAC Day has become the national day of remembrance for Australia and New Zealand. While it originally marked the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War, today, it is an occasion when Australians and New Zealanders honour those who have served in all the wars in which we have been involved.

All members of the public are invited to join us to mark this significant day.

The service will commence promptly at 6am. A light breakfast will be served following the service.

The dress code is smart casual for civilians and ceremonial summer dress for military personnel.
